Necropolis Umoljani

The national monument of the Umoljani necropolis was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2016 and represents a significant archaeological complex comprising 53 stećaks, 11 ancient tombstones, and the remnants of a church foundation, spread across six locations near the village of Umoljani. The largest and most important necropolis is located at Dolovi, not far from the winding road that leads to Umoljani. The stećaks in this area are crafted from local stone and vary in shape, including slabs, chests, and ridge-shaped stones. Notably, many of them are adorned with rich realistic and symbolic motifs.
