Via Ferrata Paklarske Rocks - Devečani

Paklarske Stijene via Ferrata – Devečani offers an exhilarating experience suitable for both beginners and more experienced hikers. This trail begins at the lowest section of the rock formation and follows the main ridge, utilizing a combination of horizontal and sloping ledges along with vertical walls all the way to the summit of Paklarske or Devečanske Stijene. While the via ferrata is not technically demanding, caution is necessary on the grassy sections, especially in rainy conditions when the terrain can become slippery. The via ferrata is designed for adults who are physically and mentally prepared for this type of activity. Getting to the via ferrata requires a drive from Travnik along an old paved road toward Galica/Vlašić. After approximately 9 kilometers, you can park your vehicle on the right side, where you will find an information board about the via ferrata and the hiking path that leads to the entrance. Access to the via ferrata takes about 120 minutes. The via ferrata itself is 500 meters long, with an elevation gain of 200 meters, and its technical difficulty is rated as B/C. It typically takes around 90 minutes to traverse the via ferrata. Upon completion, the return route is planned via a marked trail from the Jusuf Pečenković mountain hut in Devećani, all the way to the Grof Erik Brandis hut in Galica, and then back along the paved road to the starting point. Note: The path leading to the via ferrata is not well marked, and part of it runs through an area suspected of landmines, so special caution is required. Additionally, the cables in some sections may be rusty, necessitating extra care.
