Necropolis in Luburića Field

The Necropolis of Stećci in Luburić Field, located near Sokoc, is a significant cultural and historical site. This necropolis, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016, consists of two important locations: Ploče and Bare. Additionally, since October 2010, Luburić Field has been declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The first site, Ploče, is situated on a prehistoric tumulus and features 51 stećci. Most of these stećci are in the shape of chests, with only one standing out as a headstone. Decorations are found on three stećci, and the most common ornamental motif is the cross. The stećci are arranged radially around the center of the tumulus, where a square depression may indicate the presence of a medieval structure.

The second location, Bare, contains 80 stećci, including 79 chests and one headstone. These stećci are oriented in a north-south direction. Six of them are adorned with various motifs, including a line indicating a double grave, a rosette, a sword, and a cross. This necropolis offers significant insight into medieval customs and artistic expressions.
