Old Bridge Mostar

The Old Bridge in Mostar is one of the most famous and significant monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. Built in 1566 during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, it was designed by the architect Mimar Hajrudin. The bridge connects the old and new parts of Mostar, spanning the Neretva River, and stands as one of the most important examples of Ottoman architecture in the region.

The Old Bridge was destroyed during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993, but it was restored and reopened in 2004, thanks to international efforts and support. Today, the Old Bridge symbolizes resilience and reconciliation, attracting tourists from around the globe.
