The Bijeli Kamen Ferrata, also known as Bršljan A, offers a challenging and exciting course for experienced hikers looking to test their climbing skills. Located within the advanced climbing sector of Kozara National Park, the ferrata is near the popular rock climbing area at Zečiji Kamen. To reach the ferrata, drive from Banja Luka towards Prijedor and turn right in Kozarac towards Kozara National Park. After passing the park’s toll booth, turn left onto the gravel road leading to the Kotlovača Mountain Lodge. A well-marked hiking trail guides you from the lodge to the ferrata entrance.
The start of the ferrata is on the right side of the Bijeli Kamen rock, in the Bršljan sector. The route traverses the most demanding central section of the rock, which becomes overhanging in the second half, requiring extra caution and technical skill. Climbers are required to use an additional harness with a carabiner for safety when transitioning to anchors. This ferrata is designed for physically, technically, and mentally prepared adults who have prior climbing experience. The approach to the ferrata takes about 40 minutes of walking, while the ferrata itself is 60 meters long with a height difference of 40 meters. The technical difficulty is rated C/D, and the average time to complete it is around 30 minutes. The return journey follows a marked hiking trail back to the Kotlovača Lodge.
The Bijeli Kamen Ferrata is perfect for those seeking adventure in unspoiled nature, and the ascent offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes of Kozara, enhancing the unique experience of this climbing route.
